Well, yes! First of all, you should know that all the terms we’ve mentioned—eau de parfum, eau de toilette, and especially eau de Cologne—, all fall into the perfume category. In this way, they will all be constituted in the same way and therefore on the same basis.

Indeed, whatever happens a perfume is divided into two main parts. On the one hand the fragrant concentrate, also known as "juice.". And secondly alcoholor water for lighter fragrances. But then what is it?

Structure: no difference!

We said: eaux de parfums, eaux de toilette, eaux de Cologne - what's the difference? One thing's for sure, no difference in structure ! As we’ve seen, they’re made from fragrant juice and alcohol or water, for that matter. To get right to the point, here’s what that means.

In other words, "scented juice" refers to essential oils. When blended, these oils create what are known as fragrances. The complexity of these fragrances varies depending on the perfumer's initial vision.

This fragrant juice will made up of notes that stand alone or serve to bind together.

Well, here’s the answer without further ado: the difference in the name comes from only the difference in the dosage of flavoured juice in the finished product! That's right! That's the only difference! And that's why some manufacturers offer the same fragrance in different variations. The difference lies in the concentration.

The eau de toilette, a bestseller!

Eau de toilette is a perfume, the most widespread concentration on the market. It contains approximately 7 to 12 ml of scented juice. The scent lasts for several hours. This eau de toilette is particularly appealing for its lightness, which is less overpowering than an eau de parfum, is all the more appealing during the summer.

Eau de parfums, the everyday composition!

That's right! The information is widely known and true, Eau de parfum is more concentrated than eau de toilette—did you know that? Eau de parfum typically contains a fragrance concentration of between 12% and 20%. Its battery life is estimated to be about 6 hours to a minimum.

Be careful, however, not to confuse eau de parfum with parfum essence, also known as parfum extract. This is the most concentrated formulation! Up to 40% for the boldest fragrance creations! This concentration should be applied in very small amounts, as it’s more than capable of lasting well over a day!

Eau de Cologne: the gold standard for many years now!

Despite the strong scent that cologne, in particular, may have at first sniff, it actually contains only 3 to 6% of fragrance! That’s right! So its incredibly fresh blend, often featuring citrus notes, is what gives it its distinctive, fragrant character! 

But that statement could almost be called a misconception! In fact, you should know that cologne is meant to be a light fragrance that lasts no more than an hour or two at most!
